OUT.RA – Cultural Association is proud to announce the first names for 13th edition of OUT.FEST, Barreiro’s annual experimental music festival, which will take place from October 6th-9th in various venues throughout the city, as was the case in previous editions.
In keeping with the festival’s identity and history, OUT.FEST strives to present musicians who create work displaying bravery, creativity, progressiveness and artistic coherency, regardless of genre or aesthetic. Among them will be one of the fundamental bands in the history of jazz – all of jazz: the British trio of Evan Parker, Barry Guy and Paul Lytton, who will return to Portugal for the first time in 15 years; as well as Japanese psychedelic rock heavyweights Acid Mothers Temple, led, as always, by the Hendrixian virtuoso Makoto Kawabata. OUT.FEST 2016 will also welcome back Peter Kember (aka Sonic Boom, half of the seminal Spacemen 3) to the festival, now presenting his work as E.A.R (Experimental Audio Research) as well as leading a workshop (to be detailed), as well as providing the Yokohama/Tokyo musician Foodman with his Portuguese debut on his first European tour after becoming a revelation in electronic music. OUT.FEST will also feature the legendary French percussionist, composer and improviser Lê Quan Ninh will also be performing and presenting a workshop; the Portuguese duo Tropa Macaca (Joana da Conceição and André Abel) who will be performing at the festival for the third time following the release of their new album ‘Vida’ on the British label Trilogy Tapes; and Ondness (Bruno Silva), a tireless and widely edited Portuguese musician whose work ranges from improvised to electronic and ambient music.
Festival passes are already available at Bilheteira Online for a special price of 20€, available only up to September 9th.
